Hi Guys, My name is Matt and reside in Ontario. I am an avid fisherman have been doing it since I could remember. Have always loved ice fishing I still remember my first outing ever was on a tributary jigging for those precious eyes. I spend most of my time now Steelheading and fly fishing for Trout and Salmon but always dedicate my winters to the hard water.
Anyhow moving to the present I received my first sonar unit under the tree this year from my wife and it was a Marcum Lx-5. A friend had the same one so it was the one i wanted to get due to my applications. I fish Deep water for Whitefish and needed the Dual Beam.
I came across your videos and have spent the last 3 days researching the Marcum units, watching videos to see them in action, read a ton of reviews and now I have actually purchased and LX-6 from Cabelas planning on returning the 5. With shipping to the states the cost difference works out to be $40.
Just can’t decide on whether i should keep the bulletproof mechanical unit or go with the latest and greatest which are still in the tuning phase. Not trying do say anything bad but from what i read there are still issues.
I can’t seem to find much information on the 6 (can i assume same issues with 7 software affect the 6?), Ive referenced the 7 since they are supposed to be the same software.
Has any of the new digital owners had issues in 100+ ft of water?
I think thats enough questions for a first post, so let me end on a light note and share a couple pictures from the Fall 2012 season for me, along with the spirit of this forum my personal best walleye through the ice.
