A friend and I have always wanted to take a trip to catch laketrout thru the ice. We were thinking this year would be a good one to cross it off the bucket list. I would like to stay in Minnesota if at all possible but willing to head to canada if necessary to get on a good bite. Anyone care to share a few good lakes to give it a try. Any other Info. you care to share would be much appreciated. We do have sleds if that makes a difference.

I’m not sure why you would ever want to target lake trout thru the ice. Unless of course you enjoy a massive adrenaline rush.

I can’t help you on where. I’m in the same boat as you. I do know that Kenora and Sioux Narrows are excellent places for big fish and decent numbers.

Plenty of good lakes in the BWCA. I took
A dogsledding/fishing trip out of Ely ten years ago,
very fun trip. We fished one day and caught six fish,
not a bad trip by any means
