Second Flasher?

    So being a bit slow to evolve I have spent some time (and will spend more time) getting used to my new LX-6. So far I love it, but I’m in the two flasher camp. The old man doesn’t get out on the ice much so I sometimes steal his old FL-8, but I would consider myself in the market for a good second flasher as sales start happening later this season. So what do you guys use as a second flasher? I will default to an FL8 unless you can convince me to go the MarCum or Humminbird units in the same capacity. I could also be talked in to an FL-12. Do you guys think that range of flasher is worth stepping up to for a second unit?

    What is the purpose of the 2nd flasher? do you guide? is it just there for “in case”? Buddies that don’t own one? I own multiple flashers, but I have kept them the same platform. Just easier for me with clients to explain what they are seeing. I’m making the change over to Marcum this year, so its a pretty big financial leap!

    Have you considered a LCD combo with a gps and chip? I picked up an Elite 4 combo and mounted it on an old blue box. I love it. I still bring my vex 80% of the time. It just depends on how good of unit you need and if you already have GPS I guess.

    For just a back up or spare for the money you cant beat the Marcum VX-1,similar fetures to a FL-18 at a much lower cost…

    Marcum VX-1 would be a nice choice.

    If not a second, then most certainly as a third unit, I highly recommend a Hbird. A used lx5 would be my next choice followed by a stolen fl22 with the smurf ducer.

    Second flasher use…

    For me, I like to just leave one in the shelter and hole hop with another one outside. That means I prefer to have the second flasher the same. Afterall you get used to seeing the same thing. It all just depends on your reason for getting a second flasher for.
