Any tips on starting a cold Strikemaster Lite II

I like the auger but have been disappointed on how it starts when cold. I prime it 3-6 times but it still can take 10 or more pulls to get it to pop and then 2-4 more times after that. My clunker 2 stroke always took off w/i 3 pulls. Are others having the same experience?? Any tips?

If it takes that many pulls then something is definitely wrong. It sounds like you may be priming it too much. If you pump too much gas in using the priming button, that could be why it takes so many pulls of the starter rope. The first several pulls are doing nothing more than clearing the excess fuel from the system.

Try giving it fewer priming pumps, only one or two. Maybe even none if you just ran it minutes before.

Trade it in for a Jiffy Pro 4, mine starts 1st or 2nd pull EVERY time

Who wants to lug a 40lb jiffy around? Not me. I just picked up the new Honda, I prime it ten times, pull it twice, it fires. Switch it to start and it starts every time. Love it!

my jiffy has been running 25 plus years… a little heavy but will cut as many holes in a day as any auger out there…if you bring a couple buddies along to share the pain

i think most people just want a auger to run and drill a couple holes when needed to have a good time when out on the ice…

The Strikelites are notoriously good starters so I would expect you have a carb in need of a tweak. Find you nearest authorized service center and take it in. Once it is tuned I’m confident you’ll have your dream auger… those Strikelites usually start with a couple short little pulls.

I was told by a rep at the ice show to go to a hotter plug. It worked for me. Now it’s 1-2 pulls.
