What are the grumblings you hear about it on the lx6?

the guy in this thread seems to not like his so much….http://www.idofishing.com/forum/showflat.php/Number/1194376/fpart/1/lx6-question

That was me. However remember I am just one user and only have used the LX6 twice so far on 2 full days. Other opinions or experiences may differ but not many LX6 users have chime in yet. As usual I find that keeping my distance away from others and the LX6 performs almost wonderfully.

For the most part I generally fish with a few buddies so there’s usually multiple LX7 flasher units, LX5, Vex FL20, Bird Ice55 around in close proximity, typically between 5-20 feet apart.

Although its possible you can get the LX6 to cooperate with other Marcums or flashers nearby it will likely need each user to optimize their settings at the minimal levels. That means switching to a narrow cone if possible and adjust settings. You alone wont be able to tuned out the interference without cooperation from the others. In part it may just be easier to get up and walk out 20 foot for farther away as I have found the LX6 to be more sensitive then LX7 on 2.09. Again maybe its just me?

One thing I can say, the Humminbird works it way around interference with ease from Vex & Marcums as long as there arent multiple bird units around in close proximity.

Well now I see quite a few people having the issues on the lx6. Anyone out there with the lx7 that can provide feedback?????

Since 3.01 is not available for LX7 as an upgrade yet but I heard a few reports that some new LX7 models this year shipped with 3.01? If so must be few.

There is one guy reporting similar issue with his LX9 on another forum. At this point 2.9 users I probably wait and stay on 2.9 if your currently happy until all feedback has been seen on 3.01.

Dont attempt downgrade to 2.9 without first consulting with Marcum. Doing so could possibly brick your unit and render it useless.

You could just bring a backup flasher just in case your LX7 on 3.01 is giving you the run around. Unless you dont have a backup then that be a problem.

I’m surprised Marcum doesn’t have a rep assigned to monitor the forums and address questions like these. There’s an open water forum that I frequent and Shimano has a rep who is a member and his gig is to answer people’s questions about different products. Excellent idea from a CS standpoint.

I just fished with my last years lx7 v2.9 and two ‘new’ lx7’s with 3.1. I thought the 3.1 on the new units was far better for your typical walleye fishing.

The gain control was much better. My 2.9lx7 only really could have the sensitivity at 3 fishing in 25-28′ with a 3/8ths buckshot. A setting of 2 is too dimm and 4 starts getting noisy, especially on narrow beam. The new 7’s with v.3.01 could have the gain from 2-5 easily with obviously less noise when pushing it up even higher. Dynamic mode was terrible on the new units, never used it much on my unit, not sure which way that is blowing.

What I saw was jumpy bottom; the graphs came out sawtoothed. Manual depth modes worked great.
