What is the difference between the LX-7 And the LX-6, is one more preferable than the other. last season the rage was the 7, now it seems the rage is the 6 or even the 9?

The biggest difference between the 6 and 7 is size of the monitor. All sonar features are the same. The target separation on the 7 is set at 1/2 inch. On the 6 it is 3/4″. I don’t know that a 1/4″ difference will be noticeable in any significant way.
The 9 is a 7 with camera capability. The sonar capabilities of both the 7 and the 9 are the same.
Jeff,
i had the 7best for a season and liked it a lot…
But for my fishing i wanted the smaller unit.. Hole hopping is 90% of my fishing..
You get to decide
So is the LX-6 designed to be a less expensive model, or is it more about potability and mobilty.

The LX6 is less expensive by default due to the smaller screen size in much the same way a 5″ Lowrance is less money than a 7″ Lowrance of the same model. Some feel the LX6 to be more portable and easy to carry around, I’m one of them, despite the fact that the weight of the two units is very comparable (when it comes to digital units all the weight is in the battery).
All other capabilities and features are shared in common between the LX6 and LX7, EXCEPT that the LX6 cannot be upgraded to accept a camera like the LX7.
What exactly does the 1/2 vs 3/4 target seperation refer too. is it refering to determining and seperating multiple tagets within those parameters?

That is correct. Target separation is the minimum distance that needs to exist between two target for the sonar unit to be capable of displaying them as two targets versus lumping them together as one large target.

Thanks guys
Any time good sir. Always happy to pretend that I know what I’m talking about.
Speaking of battery ~ what comes standard with each (7ah, 9ah, or some other)?
I would assume ~ all other things considered equal ~ the 6 would have longer battery life than the 7 given the screen size difference.

All digitals come with the 9 Amp battery. As for difference in run-time I’m sure you’re right given the smaller screen on the LX6. That just seems logical.
I’m thinking that with the 6 should eat up less battery then the 5..
Without everything running all at once of coarse… Shouldn’t it take less juice to run a digital flasher then a mechanical one ?

James,
If I purchase an LX-7 would I be able to add a camera option at a later date?
I am assuming that would entail buying a software/hardware
package.
Jeff. You will be able to upgrade the lx-7 with a camera. The latest talk seems to be in the 500.00 range. You would have to send it in to marcum and get it done. They have great turn around time for any work done. And the customer service is awsome.
