I just bought a new lx7 at gander about two days ago, only to find that it was last years model and the 1.2 firmware. I dont really care if it was the old one or not, I can alw ays update the firmware. but what I really wanted was the new soft pack that came along with the new ones. does anyone have one of these new soft packs so I can see how it looks like?

Same exact thing happend to me last weekend. The manager at gander mtn lied to my face and told me the units were “just in” got it home and was the same situation as you. I took mine back to gander threw a fit about having to drive 2.5 hours each way to return it and they gave me a $50 gift card. Got home and ordered a new one from Dave at ProFishing Supply. His units are coming straight from rapala and have the new bags and version 3.01

What is different with the new soft pack? How about it’s price? Thanks!

The current year model has a different handle design. All else is the same.

I bought mine from reeds and the same thing, all updates but old style soft pack. I’m going to take it back and see about getting what I was told was in the box all new and up to date.

yeah..I called gander back to see if I could return it, and they said they were going to charge me a 10% restocking fee. with no guarantee of getting one of the new ones. I then called Marcum and get nowhere. they cant even give me any answers of what they are going to do about me getting an old unit. does anyone have any pics of the new bag?

It looks exactly like the old case with a different handle.

Your issue isn’t with Marcum. It should be with Gander Mountain. How can you expect Marcum to deal with this issue when they have nothing to do with it? I understand you were sold something that was not what you were told and that in itself is frustrating, but complaining marcum did nothing to fix the situation for you is ludicrous. Here is a picture of the new handle

Well, if it helps you feel any better, here is a horror story I just encountered.
I bought one of my Vexilar FL8’s in March, 2004 at Bass Pro and another one in Aug 2009. Before selling, had checked the serial numbers and verified dates. One was manufactured in 2008 and the other was 1999. Apparently, the one I bought at Bass Pro was OLD stock. Of all 6 vexilars I own(ed), that was by far the best unit for separation. So, how do you value a 13 year old locator for selling used? I know I wouldn’t be happy if I unknowingly bought a unit that old

I have the new soft case and for the life of me i cannot figure out what the clips on the side of the handle are for?
Does anyone know – is it for mounting the case, attatching small hook storage packs, or shoulder sling??

Please someone help me out with this simple but frustrating question….

It’s the same pack that is used for lx-9 unit. You attach your bag that holds the camera cable when used with lx-9

I want the LX9 softpack for my LX6. I like the extra storage pouch in the back for tackle and accessories.

I’ve been contemplating a modification to resolve the nose down position when carrying by the new case strap. Going to look at Fleet Farm for some nylon strap material and head to a custom tarp shop who should have strong enough machines to sew them on. I enjoy making modifications in order to improve how my outdoor gear meets my outdoor style. I’ll post up some picks once complete.

    Any other ideas? Please share.
