I’m looking for recommendations for rattle wheels to use in a wheel house. What do people think of the Lindell Ice Rig’s? I have heard good things about these.

It all depends on what you want to use them for. If you want to have them down when you sleep, the good old wood ones with the bells are hard to beat. I use both Lindells and the old wood ones and I wake up either way, but I have noticed a few people that I have fished with not waking up for the Lindells because they use beads instead of a bell, and the beads are encased in the plastic spool muting the sound.

Lindell is all I’ve used in my last 2 wheel houses.
They are nice and thin which make them closer to the wall, yet hold plenty of line and spool out nice, and very easy to store when not in use. Just get your self a flat type plastic storage conainer with lid high enough to suport the lindell with “l” bracket still on and you’re good to go.

I ussualy stored 4-5 lindells along with a small zip lock bag with extra heavy duty rubberbands which I would put around reel and hold Lures securely in place while in storage container or when moving short distances on lake.
I know Cabelas has them and every now and again on sale.

You can’t go wrong with Lindell’s but choosing a rattle wheel isn’t like picking an ice rod… As long as they spin and make noise any one will work fine

I have broke several cheap plastic ones due to cold weather when you are first setting up your lines. For that reason I would go with the ones made of wood. However those Lindell reels look nice and dont look like they would break in the cold but I have never tried them.

There are some new rattle reels on the market that look really sweet. It seems as if someone finally put some time and effort into this one. I urge people to check these out. Ultimaterattlereels.com You won’t be disappointed.

Nothing better than the sweet sound of the bells in the old wood rattle reels.

I use wood ones I bought at reeds. Think they’re called jingle meters.
Put lock nuts washers and lube.
Attach rattle reel to a clamp.

    I’ve got 8 this way.

I show up to a rental and have my 8 reels in the water in a few minutes.
Vs fixing all theirs first and retie everything etc.
All said and done, $20 per

Nothing better than the sweet sound of the bells in the old wood rattle reels.

I also have the old wooden ones with clamps.

You’re right, the sound of those bells going off is fantastic! It makes me do this. . . yay

No votes or critiques of the Catch Cover Rattle Snake reels? I mean just listen to the name, Rattle Snake, they got to be good…right?

They are great reels, I have Lindell’s but would get those for a second choice. There’s none smoother than a Lindell, yes a little quiet but they wake me up. There is little or no resistance on bites and very minimal sound transmission down the line from loud bells.
