on south metro lakes yet? I was hoping to get out for some fishin but I didnt want to burn a bunch of gas driving around… might have to go check ice if nobody has been out. What about guys out in prior lake? Wondering if prior has ice on it yet.

Most the small bays still had open water on them as of Sat. Morning. I don’ t think you will find any good ice on Prior for a few days at least. With the colder temps the next few days you may see local metro fishing by the weekend.

No way on Prior. Duck paradise right now out there. Nothing is safe in the metro at this point in my opinion.

With all that snow we just got dumped on us, you’d be crazy to step foot on any lake in the metro right now.

8-12″ of snow is quite a bit of insulation on an already poor sheet of ice and I would be amazed if we see any fishable ice conditions by the weekend.

Any larger lakes that stayed open during the storm COULD see fishable ice by the weekend. Probably just the small protected bays.

    Very true!

Based on satellite imagery, it looks like Minnetonka is the only lake that has visible open water currently.

That ice around here is going to be very unpredictable in the near future, IMO. More so the small lakes that were iced over or nearly iced over, which is a let down since the smaller lakes generally give us the first chance to ice fish.

Just got home from checking 3 lakes out in lakeville not much snow stayed on the lakes most of it blew off but that and the rain a few days before it defiantly did some damage its not the clear ice I’d like to see. There’s about 2 inches most everywhere I checked. I didn’t do any fishing it was just an exploratory trip out to see the conditions.
