with Gamehide dropping their Stormhide Typhoon suits I am looking for a similar set of water/weather proof wear.
This would be for early (March) and late (Nov) river fishing. maybe occassional ice fishing… I decided to move to an insulated suit to eliminate the layers, which can be confining. I am a 3XL or 4XL, depending on the fit.
Strikemaster is very reasonably priced and goes to 5XL…

Anyone try them out there? Opinions?

I have a set and love them.. they are very warm and keep out the wind.. they are a little lighter than some of the other high end stuff..

    good luck

I get a discount on them and bought a suit for my neighbor. The sizes run a little big. I got him a large and I tried it on and I could zip it up. I normally wear XL. For the price you really can’t go wrong.

They (bibs) are okay. I pulled the trigger last season when they were on sale for $90 prior to the merger.

They are not insulated (or very little if they are) they have multiple layers of fabric and do block wind well. They have padded knees but no padded seat ( i dislike a padded seat). One dislike is that the sides do not come up high enough under the armpits but I guess thats why SM has a parka length coat.

I have had the SM suit for the last 3 year’s and love it. It is plenty warm. Plus you can zip up a extra zipper to keep your neck area warm. I haven’t been cold wearing it yet. I usually just have a sweatshirt under the jacket. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a suit.

I have a set and really like them. They have kept me warm in below zero temps.
