James, were you and Joel using the 5/16 slender spoons to better pound the bottom? Can’t wait to see the full show!

Just finished watching the show I wait for all week! I have two questions for James and Joel. Why no creepers on your boots ? Do they make too much noise under the ice or don’t you mind the occasional prat fall ? And how come you never carry a fishing towel ? You could have a black one with the IDO logo on it.

For me the challenge has been finding cleats for size 14 boots that fit and didn’t destroy my back after a day of wearing them. I’ve given up trying. Thankfully the balance is good.

As for the towel, I’m a bit of a minimalist I guess.

6+ inches of new snow sitting on a thin skim of ice won’t help ice conditions at all.

As we drove south from Red yesterday we took a detour down past Leech, Gull and Mille Lacs.

Walker Bay on Leech was wide open as far as the eye could see with 75′ yards of shore ice.

Gull was completely ice free with very limited shore ice.

Mille Lacs was largely ice over with open water near Indian Pt. visible from the west side. We didn’t take a look over on the east to see what was happening.

We started with the 5/16ths but the fish seemed to prefer the lighter 1/8 in the same body profile.

Both Joel and I were using a TUC Precision when fishing spoons and Joel was using a Power Precision when fishing blades.

As for the new digital platforms from MarCum… they just keep getting more amazing and fun to fish with every time I use them.

Thanks James, I like the looks of the action on the Precision, it looks like it is a sweet stick.

I am surprised you guys didn’t show more of the lx-9 in action, or even use shacks for a cold day!!

what gloves were you guys wearing? on super cold days, i like to wear mittens to keep the heat to my fingers better. Haven’t found gloves yet that keep em as warm.

Thanks for turning me onto the slender spoons. Helped fill the hole in the ice many times yesterday. Caught some of everything with it and a minnow head and a silver and green.
