Direct vent vs ventless furnace

    Okay guys, here’s the skinny.

Iin my old 8×16 I had a 25,000 BTU direct vent. It was a pain in the butt as it was hard to start and keep going in the wind. It wasn’t an Empire so it wasn’t the top of the line so that probably didn’t help.

The new 10×24 I bought has a 30,000 BTU ventless Procom heater in it. Seems to heat the place up amazingly well when I tested it today but I’m a little worried about carbon monoxide poisoning as we sleep out there often and possible condensation issues.

    Any advice you can lend?

Torn between keeping it, getting a second monoxide detector and cracking windows or buying a new Empire 35,000 BTU direct vent.

Ok here is the thing… If your planning on staying over night or for weekends or longer in the shack, VENTED is a must.. unless you want to feel like @&*^# for a couple days after you get home…

vent less are fine for day trips since the door will get opened a few times and plenty of air exchange will accrue.. but at night that just isnt the case.. Ive found that although it take a little more space a vented threw the roof heater is the way to go.. Its a nice dry heat without any harmful side effects.. also with the pipe threw roof there is no problems with wind…

    good luck
