What’s the best jig box out there?

The last couple years I have been pulling jigs out of by box only to find the paint is chipped from being bounced around hole hopping! I have seen lots of containers now that have foam for the jigs to stick in. Has anyone had any luck with these style boxes, or any other ideas to keep paint on jigs?

Bryan- I use the grey PLANO ones and will help you out on the damages to the paint on the jigs. Whai I do now in all my jig boxes is, I cut a block of foam the size of each compartment and place it in each of these compartments on top of the jigs and close the box. The foam compresses down on top of the jigs and holds them securely in the compartment. No more paint chipping.

I’m use the Clam jig box. Both sizes. One for spoons and one for jigs. Keeps them organized real nice. They fit easily in my jacket pocket or cargo pocket on my bibs. I’ve been happy with them for a year now.

This one has been great for me. Called the Waterproof Super Jig Box. It fits in virtually any pocket, clear lids, double sided, slotted foam, waterproof, floats. I use them for jigs and flies.

I,m voting the rose creek also nice and compact and it holds a ton of jigs and small spoons.

Add a piece of soft foam or carpet pad to the existing tackle box and hook your jigs and spoons into that.

I use Richard Wheatley metal clip fly boxes have two of them and a third is on the way, can get pretty expensive but as far as organization and minimizing paint chipping they have been phenomenal. Again most guys wont fork out 50 plus bucks for a jig box but in my case my first two were hand me downs.

Like some of the others have mentioned. I take an existing box and just cut some foam for that individual section. Usually you can go a couple layers deep (as seen below).

I have that same box down stairs and used it last year. Only complaint is it wont fit in my bucket. So i switched to the plano 3500 series.

I have searched and searched for the solution of keeping all my spoons and raps apart and stored tightly. This is the best solution I have found and it works great! Not sure they make these anymore but they have the good foam in the bottom.

Mine does fit the bucket… it looks like a 3860 or 3960 model number. You scared me there.

That Flambeau box above looks worthy of a desktop pic.

I use water proof boxes and use 5/16 inch EVA foam, and i glue the foam to 1/16 inch platic. To make foam more ridgid and so hook from spoons on layer below dont stick to back side of EVA foam. I get two layers in the thinner box, and three layers in the thicker box.
