Are you finding the hooks on these jigs to be fragile. I have broken a lot of them myself. From removeing the hook from a fish to trying to open up a hook with my thunbnail and just from normal use they break.

Does tungsten melt at a higher temp? Any chance these hooks in question were re-tempered making the metal brittle? Just a thought.

several places quit selling them last year due to hook quality
I would check and see if they have new product with the problem resolved.

Did you buy these last season? I remember reading about this problem last year. I am not positive the brand. I believe they pulled there stock and where not going to sell any more until they resolved the issue. Try this for starters in your search for a answer.

Not sure what other companies are using, but all the CJS Tungsten use Owner hooks, that are extremely durable and not prone to breakage.
As a note when you get down to size 14 & 16 hooks you have to be a little careful when grabbing with pliers etc, it’s a pretty darn small hook.

Had a similar problem with the skandia tungsten jigs however most of these the paint were wearing away from using them successfully so often….. lol not a bad problem to have. the hooks lasted as long as the paint which in my book is ok since i don’t repaint i just buy new jigs. was this problem happening like on the first time out or after multiple uses over the period of the season

Pliers can ruin alot of diff hooks. Gotta be careful not to twist and bend the hook with the pliers. My friend is always bending/breaking his hooks. A bill dance hook set with a smaller jig can be frustrating at times.

    BINGO!
One method some makers are using to avoid this is using a Tungsten powder bonded (glued) together to form the body.
    Both methods have drawbacks…

To clarify, the hooks aren’t made of tungsten too, are they?

No the hooks aren’t made of tungsten.

The hooks are a higher temper than your standard Eagle Claw/Mustad hooks so they will break before they bend.
