Well since we have no fishable ice in the metro area…I thought Saturday AM would be a good time to get the Otter assembled and ready for ice. Overall it took about 2 hours to completly assemble the Otter Wild Cabin. Very easy instructions to follow for proper assembly. A few extra pieces of hardware in case you loose a bolt, washer, or locking nut. This Cabin is a roomy 1 man shack!

Seems like they should have pre-drilled holes in the sled but I too got it done on Sat. Acatully I did the seat portion Fri night which was the most tedious for me.
    Sweet!!!!

Maybe it is used to transport gear more often that actually fishing out of?

    Just a thought.

My reason was twofold. I like the bench seat better and others have told me it is more useable. And I dont need the extra weight of insulation on the sides.

This house is actually my cousin’s….I run the Wild Lodge, which is more of a gear hauler as well. On the really cold days the Wild Lodge is perfect to hold a couple guys comfortably and heat with the sunflower. The thermal roof is a nice addition to this house, keeps heat inside the house (heat rises) and you don’t have the weight of the full thermal.

Fits my ice fishing style perfectly, as I use the house to haul gear more often than actually setting the tent up and fish out of.

Ditto, not having predrilled holes is terrible. Especially with that paper diagram thing that doesnt even match the sled. Mine seems to work ok, but i could see it being an issue if you dont get the holes lined up exactly straight.

I’m guessing the reason they don’t pre-drill has to do with folks gettign sleds without tents and don’t want the holes. When I picked up my Large sled a couple of years ago that I use for cargo when hauling others stuff on the ice, I thought I remember seeing “detents” in that area indicating where the holes should be drilled. I’ll look later this week when I get a chance. But if that’s not the case, it would make sense for them to add this to the mold and get ride of that paper template thingie.

Thanks for helping me put it together. As for why not the Otter pro…very rarely do i ever fish inside of a house, its used more as a gear hauler. i thought i would use the money i saved buying the wild instead of the pro on an extra Marcum. Just my opinion. But i do appreciate the extra height of the otters so i am able to use my longer rods in the house. Whichever Otter you buy i dont think you’ll be disappointed!
