Lake Trout south of Canada?

    Thinking of putting a Lake trout trip together this winter yet. So the question is. Where is the best Lake trout action between Wisconsin and Minnesota? Definitely talking ice fishing.

    Try Gunflint Lodge on Gunflint Lake.It is up the Gunflint Trail out of Grand Marais. Maybe 5 hours from the cities. Great accommodations and the lake and others in the area have a good population for lake trout. They can also set you up with a guide if you need assistance.

    North of I Falls – some very good smaller lakes or….

    Fish LOTW for some real giants!!!!

    Gunflint is on the Canadian border….

    Long drive up the trail.

    Good trout lake.

    Dog,

    I have heard that you have to fish the Canadian side of LOW for numbers and size. Has this been your experience?

    Big Green Lake here in Wisconsin has Lake Trout.

    Check out the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior out of Bayfield, WI. Big lakers through the ice there but ice conditions can be a big variable.

    there is good lake trout fishing in the ely area.
