What will YOU be doing Monday?

Monday morning, I will find myself targeting shallow, early season walleye areas on local lakes, or if I’m lucky, on the St Louis River. Early season if my absolute favorite time to fish shallow as the fish are aggressive, and ready to eat! Oxygen levels are great, food is abundant, and noise levels are low, which is winning combination in anyone’s book. 3 to 12 feet of water, early and late in the day will prove to put fish on the ice, I can guarantee you that! The gear is ready to go, batteries are charged, gas is in the 4 stroke Strikemaster all that needs to pass is 118 hours. What will you be doing to put walleyes on the ice in the coming week?

The Chippewa Flowage outside of Hayward WI fishing season closes at 12:01 AM 12/1 (game fish).

I need to make the decission in the next few hours on wether or not I can make a long ditance snap judgement on wether ice in bay is thick enough or not. Have no resources to go get me accurate info
Have a cabin on south end of one of the branches and when allowed to safely go out prior to this closing date (which historically is running less than 33%) it has treated me and other family members very well.
Like Grant mentioned, early, shallow water ice with little to no disturbance. A great combination.

Even better yet when only the bigger portion of bay is froze over and big part of lake is still open.
There just has to be something about that early transaction as they have tried to committ suicide before.
Will they over the next 48-60 hours is yet to be decided.
Now, If I can just figure out how to get off work, get stuff loaded, and be there before dark tonight?
I need a miracle right now!!!

Hahah! That’s probably true! I am on strict orders not to shoot anything under 160″ though. That fish is a hawg!

It all depends of how brave I feel, hopefully crappies, but maybe bluegills although I did fond green weeds within a cast from the access last Thursday may just set up there

A 20 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. Monday Night A 40 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 47. Won’t be sustaining ice around here….. Might dump the boat in Lake MI for the morning

Grant, You wanna come down here and go out for Chinooks? I can’t find anyone besides myself dedicated enough to fishing to make the 12 mile haul out on Lake MI this time of year

Well… Randy, I am crazy enough to do so, but just can’t find my way south to do just that. I am taking my dog grouse hunting after some lunch, then looking for some ice to stand on… or at least check!!!

Im sure places like Allouez bay etc are good to go (i havent checked it personally, so dont just go running out there), but the main river, where there is moving water has zero ice, and it will be awhile!
