Did a little poking around in the area today. Sounds like a handful of small ponds have around 3″ of ice with some guys out fishing them. Many of the large lakes still have a lot of open areas and some of the smaller bodies still have pockets being kept open by waterfowl yet. Hopefully we’ll get through the warm up this weekend so we can lock up completely next week.

Awesome first post and what a name.

Min. Maintenance is the name of the road we drive down to fish every good slough, small lake, or pothole in SD!

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date…..looking forward to more.

Tax revenues in Day county are pretty low. No maintenance road is more like it haha.

Thanks for the report. The latest IDO television show has given me a big itch to head out to that SD area and land some huge perch!!!

Now there’s an idea. I have been to the Webster/Waubay area a few times now and every time we do well on the Perch and Eyes.

Last I heard Waubay had a strong perch bite going into freeze up, didnt get much pressure during last years ice and this summer. Bitter should also be another solid producer this year. All we need is a couple cold weeks in december to get them sealed up with good ice.

Don’t pack your bags yet! Had a couple buddies up there today . Ice varies greatly , you may be on 3″ and move 10′ and only find 1.5″ . Area they walked out on opened a few hours later . Fishing was awesome , eyes were commuting suicide , big eyes also .

4-5 Inches of ice on the couple sloughs we hit today. Not much action though. 3 walleye under 12 and an 11 inch perch. Cant complain though, was real nice to get out. Weather conditions do not look good until next weekend however, well see how our ice holds up until then.
