Just got hitched this summer and my wife has graduated. sounds great, however i’m still in school and she is working to pay the bills…… fishing budget just went to 00.00$. not happy. this also means i’m stuck down in illinois for christmas break. ( i normally make the trip home to cheboygan michigan for the month long period of ice fishing break) the weather stinks here and ice is not anywhere in the furture. I go to school at olivet nazarene university which is 45 miles south of chicago. i normally ice fish starting in januaray here when i return to school.with all that being said to all the illinois guys or southern wisconsin guys when can i expect to see some ice in northern illinois or southern wisconsin are there any particular areas with small lakes that get ice a little faster. i normally fish the strip mines in braidwood and have a lot of honey holes as everyone does out there. but with the restrictions due to bird hunting ill be sitting on my thumbs until january if i cannot find ice somwhere else. im not asking for your favorite lakes just shoot me in a general direction i can do the rest. just dont want to miss out on all of the fun. also i have no idea as to when the area starts to get safe ice as i am normally up home fishing mullet and burt lake near the mackinaw bridge. any info will help. im also super inerested in fishing milwaukee for some trout if anyone needs somebody to fish with up there i’d be more than willing to help drill some holes when the time comes. javascript:void(0)
