I’ve heard many different thoughts, some use barrel swivels while others tie the lines together. I’ve heard of people running mono to mono, braided to mono, and braided to flouro. Just wondering what line combinations people prefer to use for walleyes through the ice?? Also what pound test are people using on each end??

I just use 6# mono or flouro no leader

6# mainline, 6# floro. I use a barrel swivel on my rods I use for jigging spoons, and on rods that I use with jigs it is a back to back uni knot.

I like 4# mono most of the time, sometime I will use 6# on a corkin rod.

As for myself, I hate how supers hold water and freeze up so its a mono or floro for my ice rods.

4# Vanish loaded on the reel all the way to the lure.

If I’m fishing fairly shallow or outdoors when the temps are below freezing I’m usually using flouro main line, no leader. If I’m fishing deep, say in excess of 20′, and temps allow it, I like using braid. In that instance I like to uni-to-uni in a leader of flour. I don’t like to use swivels if at all possible but will do so if line twist becomes an issue.
