After a two year slumber… they’re alive!

I spent the afternoon waking up my snowmobiles after a two year sleep. Hard to believe that neither of my snowmobiles touched ice last season knowing how much they get used in a normal year but neither seem worse for the wear, or lack thereof.

Changed the plugs, swapped out the little fuel that was in the tanks for fresh premium. Added a little injector cleaner and replaced the battery in the 580. Both woke up as if they were run a couple days prior.

I need to replace the starter on the 580 and pick up spare belts, plugs and more oil but other than that I’m good to go. Hopefully these sleds last another season. If they so much as look crossways at me this winter I think I’m going to step up to a side-by-side as I just can’t see any reason to put any significant money in decade old sleds.

Anyone else knocked the cobwebs out of the ice transportation? Kinda’ felt good to be lost in a cloud of two stroke smoke for a few seconds once the sleds first fired up.

I’m hoping the Strikemaster will pop off after hanging on the garage wall for the last couple of years. Hope I have your magic touch.

Got our 2 skidoos home . 500 seems to be bullet-proof. 600sdi seems to need somthing every year. This year looks like a battery and should get hand warmers. Hoping for some good snow and minimal slush pockets.

Got back into town early yesterday afternoon and picked up the new battery I ordered. Swapped it out and should be good to go…just have to remember to keep the trickle charger hooked up so the digital dashboard thingie doesn’t kill the new battery. ;-)

We can’t help ourselves, we start them a few times in the summer and a few times in the fall. We like the sweet smell of synthetic. Rode one of the 1976 Arctic Cat Jag around the yard this summer too.

I plan to start on mine this week. No ice fishing for my machines. Just thousands of miles of trail riding for my wife and I if we get good snow this winter.
