Heading out this morning for first hard water trip of the year . Some friends were out last weekend and they said it wasn’t even fair, 60 to 70 walleyes both days all in the 19″ to 21″ range with a few up to 26″. The spill basin of the Hydro dam at north end Tobin Lake has about 8″ of ice. The fish that are in there are basically land locked till spring until they have to release water from spring run off into the old river channel. It will be nice to get out and catch a bunch maybe keep a couple for a meal. This bite may not last long as word is getting out and the two legged pelicans will be showing up 2-3 times a day
