I placed an order on Saturday for a new Perch Pounder custom rod from DH custom rods, and it arrived today. Way faster then I ever thought I’d get a custom this time of year. The fit and finish of this rod is very solid. A little cheaper then TB or TUC rods too. Just thought I’d share this for some of the guys looking for yet another option. Now bring on some cold weather!!

Yes I just ordered one this fall too. Dusty’s turnaround time is fantastic and quality just as good as others.
I’d like a Thorne, but don’t want to wait til end of season like last year to get my rod.

The Perch Pounder is an awesome perch/walleye rod. Comparable rods here would be the TB Perch Sweetheart and or TUC’s precision ice rod. Make sure you combo them rods with the REC guides for best performance. And if your like me dump that cork for a carbon fiber handle to maximize sensitivity transfer.

I was actually waiting till I get my BB 6061 reels in to post pictures on DH’s forum.

Here’s a shot of the Perch Pounder rod Dusty whipped up for me that I received last week on the hollow carbon fiber handle:

Whether one thinks having a carbon handle is a gimmick or not imma leave that up to your own decision.

Give him a call, he’s more than happy to do custom stuff. He will also be at the ice show, you can talk to him in person.

My first test on the fly reel side is this Frabill, Its a 30″ quick tip rod and the reel has almost a 3 to 1 ratio, it is a composite shell. The rod is rated for gills but should have plenty of snort for larger fish provided the 2# test dosent break. Should be fun and the design should provide a tangle free reel.

Love my Al Dente and Perch Pounder both are awesome rods. Use them on Upper Red fishing walleye. Lure them in with something that makes noise on the perch pounder then finish it off with the Al Dente and a piece of meat. DH has the best service I have seen in a long time and I like that he is a local small bushiness. I met face to face with Dusty and was very impressed with his professionalism.
