While at the Cabela’s in Owatonna this past weekend. I got to spend a fair amount of time with the NEW LX-6 that Marcum has out on the shelves… As a LX-7 owner… I was very familiar with the menu feature and familiarized myself with the “Lil Brother” unit. One thing I could not help but notice is how easy this unit will be to hole hop. Grab and go is the way of the Mississippi River Back Waters…

Bring On The Hard Water Mother Nature !!

I copied and pasted the info from Marcum’s web site on the NEW LX-6. It is no doubt one unit to take a serious look at !!

Take MarCum’s ultimate Digital LX Sonar Engine and shrink everything except performance. Boasting all the features and advantages of its big brother, LX-6 displays multiple water-column views on a lighter, compact 6-inch high-resolution color LCD. Use the intuitive menu-driven touchpad to custom-define the display to your liking. Dynamic screen views include Water Column Vertical, Vertical Zoom, Flasher Dial, Traditional Widescreen Graph and all combinations. Further customize on-screen Dashboard information, including digital depth, battery voltage and interference rejection (IR). MarCum’s intelligently managed sonar engine pumps out 4800-watts PtP, with TrueTime™ high speed display response and screen refresh. Switchable 8- and 20-degree transducer gives you 2 sonar units in 1. The LX-6 delivers the digital fish-finding goods, and with all the goodies serious anglers expect.

    This Is The LX-6

I had a chance put the LX-6 to the test on some sketchy ice last week and I’m in love, it’s the perfect size when standing, sitting or in a portable and has all of the performance features from the LX-7…Houston, the LX-6 has landed!

Dave- Would you choose an lx 6 over a lx 7, if you did not already have your 7?

Is there a trolling motor transducer available for the LX-6
so a person can use it with a bow mount trolling motor?

For our type of fishing , where were always on the move…

    Yes I would…

I think I will be putting my 7 up on the board here and getting a 6… I’m all about the performance of this unit but I need the compact mobility !!!

    I believe it’s just a 20 deg.

I looked on their site but I did not come up with it.. It was a LXP 20deg trolling motor transducer.. Give Marcum a call and I’m certain they will give you the facts !!

The transducer that comes with the unit is a 8/20 dual freq transducer.. but the trolling motor tranducer were looking for I believe is just a 20 deg.

I’ve been told (more than a couple times) that dual beam open water ducers would be available.

That would not suprise me one bit !!!

But I just have not seen it yet….

A phone call to Marcum would most likely take care of that question !!

The ability to use the LX-6 both winter and summer makes it a
pretty attractive piece. I’d love to see how it would work
    to follow a weed line.

I actually want to see a Minn Kota Universal Sonar attachment for the Marcum. I would love to put an LX7 on the front of my boat.

Another question, how is the target separation between the 7 and the 6? The screen is a bit smaller (lower resolution) and Marcum has the target separation at less than the 7 too.

Will it be noticeable when fishing?

The difference in target separation is .025″. The LX7 is 0.50″. The LX6 is 0.75″. For the life of me I can’t spot any difference on the water but then we are talking about a quarter inch.
