Save your money for the real deal in St.Paul in 2 weeks. I’d personally go to Cabelas today and pick the brains of the IDO ice pro’s but I’m stuck working. 2 best deals/haggling I witnessed was $100 off a Otter pro lodge with all the goodies and $25 off a generator. It was nice to talk with Don from Wilcraft, Tony Roach, Brad Hawthorne, Nate Olson, Tom from Wig Wam and a few others though

Gee, I don’t like to hear that, I was going to head down there on Sunday, as I am totally sick of deer hunting.
November 17, 2012 at 11:56 am #1112989I was there from 4 until almost 8 the only seminar I heard was Tony Roach. It was small enough you could hear the seminar from anywhere in the building.
November 17, 2012 at 12:02 pm #1112990Hmmm, maybe I’ll pass then. Might have to deer hunt the last day up here. Thanks. I was wondering about that, it seems like an over-saturation of ice shows.
November 17, 2012 at 2:01 pm #1113004Jesse,
I am sure the IDO sponsors who spent big $$$ to exhibit there will love the fact that IDO reporters are telling people to stay away.
If I was Marcum I would not be very happy!

Valid point, but to Jesse’s credit, this is one of the great things about IDO. Other sites would’ve had you arrested and hanged by now.
The rest of this post deleted by some other fishing site.

Really ???? I mean REALLY ???
The reality of the situation is as a reporter (who is not sponsored, compensated, bonded or contracted to anyone or anything) it is my duty to report and report I did and I also gave “my personal opinion” which was to go to an event where IDO PRO STAFF would be present. Would you rather I had lied ???
Your welcome for the heads up
November 17, 2012 at 2:33 pm #1113014I am not certain what krook is looking for in a show but I was there and I thought it was a good show. Plenty of cool wheelhouses, portables everywhere, the full staff from Thorne Brothers, seminars from Roach and Genz along with free parking. To each his own…I guess.
November 17, 2012 at 2:48 pm #1113018I was looking for deals and a lot better selection of tackle. I think a seen a total of 20 certain lures that I was looking for about 40-50 of. One vendor had 4 or 5 and the other had 10-15 and the color selection of particular lure was very poor. Also only 3 different colors of slender spoons. I will wait for the big show when there are more than 4 tackle vendors present. If you were looking to look at a protable ice shack yeah there was a few of those there for sure.
November 17, 2012 at 3:35 pm #1113032I love it when someone chimes in for sponsors and try and rile up the IDO keepers. One of my proudest moments on IDO was when someone suggested I be banned, lest IDO lose some sponsors. It was nice to feel important for one day.
November 17, 2012 at 3:40 pm #1113034Well Pug, Marcum is 2nd to none anyways, and thier reputation and quality are well known across most of the upper midwest. I’m sure as a professional company they won’t be overly offended by one persons opinion who runs and freely promotes Marcum
November 17, 2012 at 4:01 pm #1113035Im glad someone brought this up. I went and had the same thought. Save your ten bucks and just go to thorne bros. Same stuff, if not more. I was very disappointed. My opinion of course. I wish i would have found a review before i went.
November 17, 2012 at 4:13 pm #1113036I’m sure companies like Marcum like hearing opinions like Jesse’s. They can use this to decide if they want to spend there money on going to these shows in the future. Cost them money to exhibit there goods. If the show isn’t worth it to there customers they won’t return. IMHO
November 17, 2012 at 11:16 pm #1113085Agree 100% with Jesse, $10 to get in and a person could walk through talk with everyone and be out in less than an hour. I wanted to see more tackle and actual items for sale. Yes there were plenty of Ice Castles and few other brands but that was it.
Save your money.
November 18, 2012 at 1:21 am #1113093That pretty much makes up my mind. Now the BIG decision is do I chase deer 1 more (and last) day or slip the little boat in one of my favorite back-in-the-bush lakes and try to find some nice slabs? It’s supposed to be 45º here tomorrow.
November 18, 2012 at 1:32 am #1113094Do you realize you are one of the millions of trend followers who have to use the word “really”. Nothing gets under my skin like these followers who use this effing word like its “cool”. Otherwise thanks for the post.
November 18, 2012 at 4:20 am #1113109I been using really for years long before it was popular….maybe I was the trend setter….awesome

blufloydPosts: 698November 18, 2012 at 3:32 pm #1113146My first thought of all these ice promos is that a lot of containers of offshore junk didn’t get sold and even more on way. But as I hear reports of no product in place I am back to being just confused.
November 18, 2012 at 7:35 pm #1113172Man, I wanted to head “down south” to check out some of the ice shows, etc. but spent the day cleaning out the garage, putting away the summer stuff and getting the snowmobiles out of storage, which looks to be a good call. Now all I have to do is put together my Otters and new Strikemaster Honda. Gonna be sweeet! Small lake, where I had the snowmobiles in storage, was skimmed over? Kinda surprised me. Won’t be too long now.
