As many of you have likely noticed the world of social media has moved many IDO staffers to also get very active on Facebook. Though the bulk of our chat is centered within the confines of the IDO, we also share reports, pics and product reviews on FB. I can’t speak for all of us, but will say that beyond my personal IDO contributions over the years I also try to share fishing information through my Chris Granrud Fishing “Public Figure” with my FB family. Sometimes this information might not be shared in both arenas. For those of you who simply can’t get enough “fish talk” we’d love to gain both your knowledge and inquiries there as well. A simple search of Chris Granrud Fishing or Calvin, Grant, James, Joel, Dave…..You’ll likely recognize the faces.

The world as we know is changing rapidly team. Today the globe spins out information to targeted audiences with increased efficiency. Though some have feared the change……Change is eminent.

SO….if your feeling a bit “Dicey” today take a walk on the wild side; I’ll leave the lights on for ya!!

Well put Chris. Until a few years ago I was never a big fan of joining up on the social media craze… Once I finally broke down I found it wasn’t really so bad. I absolutely love how great FB works for one specific thing that I’ve always wanted to do – Share hunting/fishing photos with my friends. Now instead of waiting until the next time you run into people to swap pics/stories, every time I’m on the water I’ll post a few pics to FB and right away it’s like my friends are there to enjoy it with me. I’m amazed how many times it’s helped me to trade info with some of my fishing buddies that led to better results on the water.

    Social media is golden.
My wife works for a news station and they have created a brand new digital and social media department. usually a station has news (anchors, reporters) sports and weather. They now have a digital first department and it is rolling. Plus the revenue that is rolling in is crazy mad. It is the future and people will get most if not all of their information through social media and digital based sites. The information is instant and not 3, 4 or 5 hours old because that is the only times the news is being aired.

Precisely. Don’t get me wrong, like everything it has it’s drawbacks. Still if visitors use Social mediums like IDO and FB correctly they are simply second to none in current information on nearly every subject under the sun. In our case fishing is our addiction.

Just wanted people to know many of our Staffers are also keeping “Public Figure” pages on FB and sharing a lot of great fishing information here as well. The network effect of FB allows us to also share information from industry leaders for example within Rapala’s Ice force with extreme efficiency.

I always joke with my in-laws that the 10:00 news is old news. Social media is the norm now-a-days.

There is little doubt the person plugged into Social media outlets could most always give the 5:00 news reported on Television. Now I’m NOT the guy that needs to have it on a smart phone, Tweet it and so on; Still as a guy living within the confines of “The Ice Box of the Nation” it allows us to remain at least somewhat connected to the real world!! LOL!! SO….Don’t rant on FB…Don’t give the combination to the entrance to your home or advertise your daughters good looks. Still a tip-toe and peek inside the world we operate within might not hurt so bad. Do on the otherhand use this opportunity to further enhance your base of knowledge which sits at the tip of your “Henpecking” digits.

I’m going to wait for Facebook to “catch on” before I join.
