13 Fishing 6061 Multiplier Reel Photos

    No more speculation. No more photos of prototypes. These photos are from the “reel” deal.

    For those just tuning in that find themselves unfamiliar with this reel and the topic in general, here’s the link to the original thread. Warning… there’s been a lot to talk about this subject to date so don’t expect to read through this one in it’s entirety in a minute or two. That said, there’s a LOT of great info on the 6061 as well as other multiplier reels coming out on the market this winter.

    Cool, thanks for sharing!! I think this is the beginning of a big change in ice reels. Switching from spinning reels to these type of reels will be commonplace in the future

    I’m hearing retailers, like Dean @ Anglers Guide HQ, will have them before the St. Paul Ice Show. So that should be Nov 29 if I still recall how to use a calendar.

    Sitting here looking at my EC reel and looking at the 6061 I have to say except for some minor things not much different.

    Good thing I don’t use your logic to purchase ANYTHING in life bee.

    I’ve seen KIA’s that look like BMW’s, and I’ll go out on a limb here and say they probably aren’t the same under the hood.

    Or in this instance, on the surface. One is 6061 aluminum, the other feels like cheap plastic in hand. While I haven’t held the BB…I’ve felt no aluminum fly reel and mistaken it for a cheap, plastic anything.

    Agreed. I think we’re going to see a number of reels intended for this same purpose come out this winter and next that on the surface will all look very similar. Of course the same could be said about all spinning reels as well. Save some minor details they all basically look the same. And just like with spinning reels, the small details and build quality will separate the entry level products from those intended to offer improvements in performance and durability.

    One thing I do know, I’m not picking which one’s right for me until I have them in my hand.

    I like the longer reel foot of the BB 6061 compared to the EC. Cant wait to get my hands on it.. Hopefully Dean gets them in soon….
