Wheel house recs?

Got the green light from the House Commander to pull the trigger on a wheel house. This will be a dual-purpose fish house/deer shack and it’s replacing the 1960’s era camper that I’ve been using for the past 15 years. The ol’ girl made it through the ’12 rifle season, but I fear it will be her last. Too many leaks in the roof and 2 walls are now spongy.

While I’ll mourn the end of this era, I’m sure an updated version will ease my suffering.

So then…I’m looking at an Ice Castle (type, not loyal to that brand in particular) in an 8×16. Used – I’m way too cheap to buy one new. Here are my questions…Should I avoid the force-air furnaces (as they either require a generator or eat batteries)? Spray-foam insulation…is it really a difference-maker? What else should I be looking for (or looking to avoid)?

Oh, and, perhaps most importantly – if you know of anyone looking to liquidate one, shoot me a PM.

My experience with the forced air furnaces is that they are too loud, wakes me up every time it kicks in.

Wow, that is a smokin’ deal. Wrong size though. I’d never be pleased with a 6 1/2 wide…

Thanks for passing it along though.

“Spray-foam insulation…is it really a difference-maker?” Yes, styro panels or fiberglass do not compare. You cannot duplicate the infiltration protection of a solid, seamless sprayed foam.
