Maybe this belongs in the Lowrance forum, but I figured this section is getting more attention this time of year..
I want to mount my Lowrance HDS7 Gen2 to my ATV, and have a few ??
–I found a power cable on the Lowrance website, but there’s a bajillion wires coming out of it Can I just wire this to a 12V cigarette lighter receptacle? How?? Should I add an in line fuse?
–Anyone mount their units somewhere besides the plastic on an ATV?? Eg..I have a storage box on the front..anyone mount to a front storage box? I’m basically trying to avoid buying a RAM mount and screwing it into the plastic.

I think you would be happy with a boat rail or handle bar RAM mount. Either one can be mounted to bars or a rack tube.

I soldered my own harness for my 520, just make sure to include the correct fuse.

Here is a post from when I did mine.

Also, terminate the unused leads if you buy a new power cable.

I used the ram mount that clamps to the handlebar. I am sure you could also clamp to the front rack.
Check your installation book. I believe the cable is both power and data, thus all the wires. Cut in to the sheath and find the red(positive) and black(negative) wires. Place an in line fuse on the red and connect to your accessory plug.

x2. I also purchased the plastic covers which go over the data, Ethernet, etc plugs on the back of the unit. I didn’t want any condensation/roadsalt/etc to contact those.
