I bought a Lowrance Endura handheld with a Navi chip for ice fishing. When I brought it home I read a lot of negative feedback and Cabelas even pulled them off the shelf so I returned it.

There are very few options for handhelds that will work with Navi and Lakemaster. I also heard Garmin released their own lake maps which sparked some attention (garmin handhelds look quality). I know the H2o is tried and trued so I may have to find a used one but, What is everyone else using and how do you like them?

I have a Garmin gpsmap 78 with a Lakemaster chip. It works great. I really like the Garmin marine handhelds, very durable and waterproof. Since lakemaster no longer makes chips for Garmin i just bought the Garmin upper midwest fishing guide chip for my dad. Waiting on it in the mail so i cant say how good it is. But looking at the demo on Garmin’s website it had all the lakes i fish in detail.

I have a Garmin 62st with what was probably one of the last Lakemaster chips for Garmin and have liked it. Easy to use, seemingly accurate and rugged.

I just recently picked up a Garmin Nuvi with a lakemaster chip (2010).A lot of structure my navionics app didnt show.. I was wondering if its possible to set colors for different depths, kind of like how my navionics app on my phone is (the shallower the darker blue it is). thanks for any help

I just purchased the Garmin Montana 650 with the upper midwest chip.I haven’t been on a lake with it yet, but it does have some lake master lakes on it according to Garmin.
It does have 1 foot contors on most of the lakes that I looked at.
The montana series does look like it will work out very well for my application.

It sounds like there still is not a product available that matches the now extinct H2O with Lake Master. Is that true?
Or am I missing something? If my H2O with LM chip were to break today what is a comparable or better replacement?

have the Garmin GPSmap 76 with mn and sd lakemaster chips, my brother just ordered the new version (78)of the unit with Garmin’s midwest maps. We did notice the older lakemaster chip had better definition as far as contour lines. The Garmins are solid. They aquire faster and won’t chew though batteries.

Hummingbird bought the rights to Lakemaster. So you would have to get a bird to get that mapping, which to my knowledge they do not have a handheld unit.
So you are stuck with what else is out there.

It will be nice when the Android gets some of those new Navionics features on the iOS.

cool, can you send me the app mane or how do I go about getting that app? All I have is Pandora so I’m pretty app free. Does the app also have South Dakota covered?

On Android does Navionics show your current location on the lake maps? Does it allow a person to save fishing hot spots or current locations? Also, on Android are you able to download the maps to your phone so you can view them in areas where you don’t get service/data?
