Might be worth a trip to the store and see it first hand before you place an order.
I have a few of their rods and really like the action and quality.

Click Here for their custom rods.

Black rod with pink wraps – they did a fantastic job!
July 17, 2012 at 6:34 pm #1084975I am fimilar with their standard rods and have played with the stock ones, never figured I would want a custom, well times have changed and I want my own…I just would like to see the different color schemes out there….Also do you pick what color thread they use for the personal naming? Or do they just use what you picked for eyelet wrap colors?
One more questions, what the pros / cons on going with the REC Recoil eyes, vs. the alcolite guides…I am torn between the outside versions of these two…Thanks

I think you can have pretty much what ever colors you want.
The difference between Recoil and Alconite is mostly weight
and the Recoil guides are lighter and will bend back to the
original shape if twisted or bent, they are also quite a bit
higher priced. Give Lonnie a call he is very sharp and will
give you just what you desire. BTW you should know their
rods are addictive.July 17, 2012 at 9:26 pm #1085056Call Lonny, he can help you out with all of your questions.
The text you have them put on the rod is not out of thread, rather a sticker.
There are numerous color options out there, see which two colors appeal to your personal preference the most and go with it.
Go with the outside Recoil guides, you won’t be disappointed. I have both kinds of guides and prefer the Recoil.

The text on my rods are all hand written/painted. No stickers at all.

I wouldn’t go with the 4″ handle on a 30″ rod. Nothing against the shorter handle, I have it on my shorter rods and love it, I just don’t think you would be pleased with it on a 30″ rod.

Spinning reel.
it depends on what your comfortable with.. They have a lot of options I suggest a 5″ straight handle because that’s what I like but if you call Thorne and ask for Lonnie in the rod shop he can talk to you about what would be best for the kind of fishing your going to do. Better yet I would visit the store if possible and talk to Lonnie or pat about what you want to do with the rod.
