ATV laws?

I’ve been tring to talk the wife into letting me trade in my ATV. My arguement has been that it’s getting old & unreliable. I take my dad icefishing & hate to make him walk the distance I do. Since my brother dropped his through the ice a little over a year ago she won’t let me take hers. Here’s what I need to know. If I take dad to say Spring Lake will the State Police be waiting for me at my truck when we come back? I have no idea what the laws are around Pool 13 & need a little help. ANY positive insight will definately help. Otherwise I’ll work on her for another month or so then urine her off by buying one anyway.

Icehogfan….you can ride on the ice only,can not ride the dike, any island, or my as well figure and land anywhere controlled by fish and wildlife…..just read article in the paper today about state going to get tougher on atv in state parks, the way the article read that you can ride on the ice at the state parks, if that is true it is new to me..I was unaware that you could…if you ride in Iowa or Wis. backwaters machine must be registered,Ill. does not register them….
