I’d like to store my Team Wild 1 flip over fish house in my garage up near the ceiling (I have 12′ ceiling) What’s the best way to do this? Pulley system? Build a large shelf with 2×4’s?

How about the Hyloft storage system sold on Amazon.com for $50

I take the Fishtrap apart each spring and mount it tight to the ceiling in the garage with ratchet straps. I put the poles and other ice gear inside it – Kind of a hassel taking it apart and putting it together each season but it sure stores nice and out of the way this way.

nail some pulleys to the rafters and hoist it up.

i use two ratchet straps and sinch it to the ceiling, i do not take it apart and i leave all my gear right in it. I have done this bymyself but usually recruit somebody to give me a hand.

I use a single pully and create an X with Rope. Really works good, deer hoist doubles as frable hoist.

I use a drywall lift to get it up by the ceiling and hold it place. Then a couple of ratchet straps to secure it. It is now a one man operation for me.

I have a pulley system for mine. I have hooks on each corner of the otter with a short piece of rope attached to a round metal circle. Hook from pulley clips onto ring, all the stuff goes in the otter and up it goes. I TRIED doing this for a few years without the pulley system and I could not do it on my own. Now, piece of cake.

That sounds cool, do you have any pics of it so I could rig something similar?

This is the contraption I made last summer. I have a platfor made out of 2X4’s and OSB with 4 ropes going through pulleys to a DC winch mounted on the rafters. I pack my Otter Lodge with all of my ice fishing equipment except my electronics and winch it to the rafters out of the way until December rolls around.

That’s a great idea and very similar to what I was thinking too, I plan to store my mower and other summer tools up there in the winter. How do you have all 4 ropes connecting to the DC winch?

And, while we wonder about next year, I am looking at replacing my hand auger with a power version. My questions: 1) any preference or comments on a favorite? 2) should I be looking new or used? 3) anyone prefer the electric vs gas? Any help would be appreciated. I love these ideas and will try to hide my flip-up in a similar fashion. Thanks.

I have all 4 ropes go to the flat part of a D ring. On the other side I have a storage hook and the winch hook. I winch the platform up a little higher than it normally sits and then clip the storage hook to an eyelet lag bolted to a rafter then let the winch down so all of the weight is on the lag bolted eyelet rather than on the winch. I’ve been thinking of doing something a little different than this as it’s a little bit of a pain to do but I guess it’s only twice a year I use it.
