Making my first ever trip for lake trout through the ice to Clearwater Lake,MB.I have never used tube jigs before.I have picked up some tubes and tube jigs, my question is should I be glueing the tubes to jigs and if so any recommendations on glue to use. Thanks

I don’t know what you have for jigs, but you should be able to feed the jighead inside the tube and push the hook eye out through the end of the tube before you tie it on. No need for glue.

    yep
use the insider heads. i use them exclusively for bass fishing. no glue needed. interesting technique for lakers. i have caught some walleye on them though.

Tube jigs are the perfect jig for lakers. You shouldnt need any glue as others have already said. Another jig you may want to consider or use is the airplane jig and River-2-Sea.

have gone up to mb many years and fished lake trout and never used a tube jig so please let us know how you do. we have always used a jig and sucker meat. Caught some very large lakers doing this. Good luck!!

Willy, Lakers are also very susceptible to blades thru the ice… Depending on the depth 1/2 to 3/4oz in gold, silver and white…

Add white chartruse to that list. I use 1/2 oz if there isn’t much current in waters over 120′ through the ice
