Picked up a barely used VX-1 on Wednesday evening for $150 and took it out for a test run yesterday. Now I have seen the LX-5 , LX-7, and LX-3 in action but never the VX-1.

All I can say is wow, for an entry level flasher this thing is nice. I love the bottom zoom, it makes my FL-8 look bad! Screen is much crisper with better detail and with the bottom zoom I can see fish tight to the bottom the FL-8 just does not show.

Looks like the VX-1 and Showdown Troller and my go to units now.

People figure they cant be very good since there are so many units above them. Wrong.

The color is so bright and clear with fine lines, it just is so impressive for their lower end unit.

That was the first words from a buddy that owns a Vexilar when he looked at my VX-1 for the first time.

Last week a freind and I fished a walk in lake that we were unfamiliar with. I drilled the holes and he checked for fish. He uses one of the newer vexilars and I usn an older LX-1. After locating some fish, our holes maybe seperated by 25 ft, we attemted to trigger a strike. We were fishing to diffewrent styles. After a short period of time with no success we swapped holes, leaving the flashers alone. His first comment was on the crispness of display and the second was “Man, I can hear my vexilar running from here and I can barely here the marcum while kneeling in front of it”.
I am sure both brands have there negatives and positives but when i purchased mine originally, it was much more affordable. It has been a great unit. I would like to upgrade but really have no reason to.

I have to agree on the sound or lack of it from the VX-1. My vex sounds like a train coming and the VX-1 is so quiet I would not know it was on.

I have to agree with you, I have been borrowing my Dads Vex Fl-8 all winter and finally got my own flasher. The VX-1 was the most appealing being a poor college student. There is so many more positives about the Marcum I could go on for days. We were just at LOW last week, I caught the most fish and both my dad and uncle are now trading there Vex’s in for a Marcum. Its very impressive the VX-1 is the entry model, when it does everything I need. I’ll never go the other way.. The only negative is i can read my neighbors jigging and dead stick as I do most fishing in a pop up..
