6 year old vs. northern

Took the girls out to chase some flags. Having not chased flags in years, I went to an old spot. The fishing was horrible, one flag all day from 8 am to 230 pm. Ish. However the 6 year old got her first ever northern, on a golden shiner slick jig tipped with a Golden Shiner. We were fishing fairly shallow, 7-12 feet of water!

Enjoy the video! As you can see, I really wanted to grab that line to help! Funny part at the end, of the tip ups I rigged, this was the only one I didnt have 80 pound masterbraid as a leader, 12 pound Nanofil. Line snapped of course as I told her to drag it out of the hole. So I was able to reach down and quickly grab it!

That is awesome! And the mess in the line was minor, I assume, compared to the excited look on her face when she asks, “What kind of fish is it?”. I just helped my grandsons each catch their first sauger this past weekend. Those are the memories we will be talking about 20 years from now. Keep up the good work teaching the youngsters how much fun this can be!
