I know right, the world sucks. You should probably just give up now.
January 25, 2012 at 4:11 pm #1031809I just shoot down there every time I need something, I ran into the same thing.
Nice drive
January 25, 2012 at 4:14 pm #1031811Call around to other small engine shops in your area or ice fishing suppliers in your area.
Look for someone in the Big lake, MN area to buy it and $5 ship it???I think it is their policy to fast ship everything and is a flat rate up to a certain weight, for somethings it can seem out of line. I had my bibs the next day and if you NEED something now it works well. Perhaps you could add more to your order to justify the shipping cost???
January 25, 2012 at 4:38 pm #1031824Perhaps make a new post so the title shows up on the recent posts.

You can drive there and buy it for $18.00
OR,
PAY THE PERSON WHO HAS TO PROCESS YOUR ORDER, PULL THE PART OUT OF THE WAREHOUSE, PACK THE BOX (the box, packaging, and tape isn’t FREE!), PRINT THE LABEL, SET UP SHIPPING, AND PHYSICALLY GET IT TO YOU!!!!!Do you think they have VOLUNTEERS who just pack orders so you can have stuff delivered to you at no cost?
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Or, the other option is to raise the price on the part to $32.00 and have “free packaging and shipping”!!!!!!

In all seriousness though, bichen about shipping charges for one of the best products out there is bush league. If you can’t afford your hobby, find another one.
January 25, 2012 at 5:09 pm #1031844Call Strikemaster to find a shop they have sold these to in your area.

I find this statement amusing, the poster is venting about the price of shipping spare parts for “one of the best products out there”
January 25, 2012 at 5:22 pm #1031853I think its cheaper then driving yourself to Big Lake to pick it up?

After reading all the posts, this was the best reply.
I don’t mind all the venting here, but I sure hope it was put into perspective.

Well said Gary! Remember, the person packing the part is making at least $16 per hour, the company (Strikemaster) likely pays a portion of medical insurance, 401K match, overhead costs including electricity, gas, water, waste, environmental costs, insurance. I’m sure that I’m missing some.
Add all that up per hour and I’d think that $100 per hour to pack that part is pretty close. It probably took 10 minutes or so. Thats about $16 not including the shipping costs. Ground shipping for that part is probably near $8.
I even forgot about the order entry process!
It will show up at your front door or your mailbox. The only thing I think that you could complain about is that they won’t come and install it for you at that price.
PRETTY GOOD DEAL IF YOU ASK ME!
Hope this helps

If they are paying people $10 per box packed. Sign me up because thats great money!
I agree with the op. Strikemaster has one of the most expensive, over inflated shipping / HANDELING fees I have ever encountered…. And the price on some of the spare parts are ridicules…. $8 bucks for 7 inches of fuel line.. It is like 70 cents at the hardware store. lmao
8+15 = 32
$32 dollars for a fuel line.. Give me a break
In addition, I would not suggest going into the store (this year) unless you like feeling like a waste of space.
PS: I absolutely love my 2.5hp solo.
January 25, 2012 at 5:59 pm #1031878It is a free market out there. You are free to trade in your red auger for a yellow one at any time
January 25, 2012 at 6:11 pm #1031886$15 bulk rate? First class? Overnight? $15 is excessive for less than 1st class shipping.
Maybe they need to hire a new shipper who can do more than 1 order in an hour.

I might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer….but you’re going to have to show your work on that math to get me to understand…..

Whatever. Why is it that everyone in this world thinks they are owed something. for example cheap shipping? If you don’t want to pay for the convenience of something being shipped to you. Don’t order it. Don’t jump online and start pizn and moaning about how unreasonable something seems. Sorry but I am going to defend any company in Minnesota, that employs Minnesotans.
If something is broken, and I need it, I pay whatever it takes to fix it. If drilling holes in the ice isn’t worth $15 dollars to you, then you have no business fishing in the first place. Sit at home, count your 15 singles, and enjoy what is on the television.

Then you must not have ever started it
January 25, 2012 at 7:08 pm #1031907I agree with the math, da bichen and the like…
But here might be another solution… Find out if SpeeDee will pick up the part at that location… If they do, call shipping to see if they will allow it to happen. If they do, have SpeeDee pick it up… Shipping should be around or under $10. Best shipping co. in da Midwest!!!

January 25, 2012 at 7:11 pm #1031910It isn’t the “shipping”, it is the handling of the product and making sure they have it to you when you need it.
Another option is to just drive there and buy it over the counter.January 25, 2012 at 7:25 pm #1031914Quote:

bigpikePosts: 6259January 25, 2012 at 7:29 pm #1031918I bought some strikemaster parts from a guy in Minnesota who does landscaping and services strikemaster on the side. Can’t think of the name but anyhoo, they sent me stuff for about half if not even a third the cost of your $15 shipping cost. I got the name of the place from IDO – anybody know who I am talking about?
January 25, 2012 at 7:30 pm #1031919The shipping will probably be $18 for anything up to a certain weight/dimension. If it is, order a few more parts that you may need like a gas cap, etc and have them ship it together to cut down on shipping costs.
I had to order a pinion yoke for one of my Abu reels. The part was 36 cents, but shipping was $4. Considering it was a plastic part prone to breaking, I should have ordered a few of them to make it worth shipping.
