Well I made it out on monster lake Saturday morning the ice was a little shaky right near sore but after we made it out we found some ice that was decent but couldn’t fish much deeper than 12 fow which meant no fish. we tried it anyway and fished all morning without a bite and only marked two fish on the fl-8. Sunday I went out on a north unit pond a little hot spot of mine and found 3.5 inches of rock solid ice and fished for 2 hours before the park closed at 4 and ended up with 25 gills and a largemouth I also hooked up with another monster largemouth that I fought for 15 minutes on my ultralight with 4 lb test only to be denied the privelige of briging him up through the hole because he wouldnt fit. next time i’ll use the 8 inch auger over all a good trip hopefully we didn’t loose all of the ice we made last week and can add some as the temperatures are dropping again good luck to anyone going out that way. and stay off the bigger strip pits they have as many people know huge springs and its spooky in spots good luck and be safe ill be checking the area Friday evening and i’ll post what I find. just wish I could be home in Michigan with a solid 10 inches of ice right now. I guess school is more important than fishing…..maybe….
