I tried it yesterday. You won’t catch me on a wheeler on that ice yet. There was 4, maybe 5 inches but not real good ice. Soft spots on top in a few places where the snow was and that was early Sunday before the temps warmed up. No fish either. The ice is bad in spots where it was slush before and then froze. Unless it gets really cold for an extended time, the ice will be sketchy at best this year.
Sounds like a lot more ice on the Sconnie side than MN. No way I’m taking a wheeler out from the MN side. Maybe after this cold snap but there was a pile of busted up ice between that can and MN shore. That busted up ice never does freeze up good. The fish are less polluted on the Sconnie side anyhow!
