The Strikemaster website has these on special right now for $95 each. Anyone own this combo and what do you think of them? I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a set as I think it will help me put more fish on the ice …RR

I bought a pair of bibs this year at the ice expo in St Paul. In the past I was using carhartt bibs. I believe that the carhartt bibs were just a little warmer but other than that the Strikemaster bibs are far better. When I’m drilling holes with the auger I don’t get any ice build-up around my ankles. I can kneel down in the snow and not get a wet knee when checking my tip-ups. They have 4 large pockets that I have full of different gear. As long as you layer underneath the bibs you won’t get cold. I dont have a jacket so i cannot comment on it.

I’m sure many people will tell you to buy the Snowsuit brand bibs and jacket. They are the best on the market in my opinion but I couldn’t afford them….even at the ice show discounts.

    Good luck with your decision.

I bought myself one for my Christmas present when they went on that sale. I also have the Ice Armor blue suit and this one is definatley better insulated especially in the jacket. It’s definately not the Sno Suit which I don’t have the $ for but so far it’s been good and the price is right. I still have to layer a bit underneath based on temps but I’m happy with my purchase-plenty of pockets too. You are visible for sure out there with that red suit.

I have a snow suit for when it’s really cold, but the rest of the year I wear my Strikemaster suit. They are perfect for Early Spring and Fall as well. I wear this suit more than any other outerwear I own. In other words I kinda like it

I have worn the Strikemaster Bib’s/Jacket for two season’s and I was warm and dry. You will like the suite, and that is a great price. I’m 5’11″ with a bit around the middle The large Bib’s are perfect but I wish I would have purchased the XL Jacket for just a tad more room in my shoulders/pits.
I am now in the Frabill Ice Suite, not the Sno Suite, and have only been out in it once. We haven’t had winter yet for me to compare it to anything. Hope to change that soon!

I purchased the bibs two years ago and like them a alot. They keep me warm and have plenty of pockets for my stuff.

I purchased the jacket last year. Again, it keeps me warm but is a little snug when wearing over the bibs.

Just make sure you get the correct size when you order.

Agree with all the comments. I have the bibs and jacket and, for the money, they’re a good value. One thing to keep in mind is you may need a different size jacket compared to the bibs etc. I got the XL bibs and XXL jacket; seemed to work better for me.

Oh yea, if this helps I’m 6′ and 210 ( don’t laugh it’s all paid for) the large bibs and XL jacket works for me.

They are decent… If you spend a lot of time hole hopping or on a bucket make sure to layer underneath. I’m a big fan of SnoSuit and the other more insulated products. But, it’s not a bad price.

My third season with mine, and I love them. I can’t compare vs. Sno Suit, Ice Armor, etc. But I can tell you that they are very warm, reinforced knees and other areas which are great, and lots of pockets! Worth every bit of the full price if you ask me. I do not have to layer at all under neath this stuff. A good pair of comfy sweats and a sweatshirt and I’m good to go. I would recommend that product to anyone.

To be honest i have never tried on any of the ice fishing suits though i have wanted one for a while. From what people are saying the strikemaster suit is not extremely well insulated. If that is the case you might be interested in the Mens Guide Gear products. Check them out. For the most part they have received good reviews and they are 70 bucks for each item (bibs, parka). I wear carharts but if i ever pull the trigger on a suit i think i will try the Men’s Guide Gear one. If you’re liking the strikemaster one that is a good deal you mentioned though

I just bought the bibs and love them. there is something to be said for having to layer them in extreme cold, but more insulted bibs are tough to wear on mild days. I guess each type has its draw backs. The thing with the strikemasters is the price, quality and allows you to be flexible to the weather. Layer if you need. Most people fish in a house or shelter anyway. the only time you are out in the elements is when you are actively moving thus keeping you warm. Very few people are actually sitting on a bucket when it is extremely cold.

you will love the bibs. I have two pairs one for open water and one for ice. I am not a big fan of the jacket. It is a little to warm and bulky for me where a carhart will work but built nice.
