Filmed Jan 4, 2012 in Webster, SD. These guys tough out 40 and even 50 MPH prairie winds on their trip and managed a great catch under tough conditions. You know the conditions are brutal when big guys are trying to find a wind break behind skinny dead trees!

Monster perch&crappie tried perch raw and it’s not too bad.

    Thanks for sharing!

Those are some pig perch and crappies! Loved too the fishing in extreme conditions – you guys earned ’em, and were rewarded with some trophy class fish. Congrats!

Looks like SD greeted you with some good ol’ weather. Way to tough it out!

The SD weather was much nicer to us this past weekend on our return trip. The “On Ice” from that trip will post later today.

As for Cal and his group in this vid… they fish HARD!

I’m headed out there in two weeks for work. I’m pretty sure I’ll be bringing the auger and jigging rod along. Seems silly not to… Can’t wait to see how last weekend went.

Great show Cal. Brutal was the “word” for the wind. But as always, we have a great group of people.

    You’re narrative was perfect Sir!

…and it looked like your Dad was AGAIN teaching you some fishing lessons.

    AWESOME!

There’s something about catching fish in terrible conditions that makes it even more rewarding… You guys will be telling stories about that trip forever

Thanks for all the positive feedback for the “On Ice” shoot. Its was a challenge to fish in those conditions but it was also fun. This same group of 7 has taken on a name of “Here we go”, meaning not quite sure of what type of fishing adventure we are getting into, but nonetheless it will be fun no matter what the outcome is.
