Cold is coming to the upper midwest in a big way, and I’m feeling like it’s early December all over again! Who’s hitting the ice this weekend?

It would be nice to see a real cold snap. I feel bad for all the businesses the big lakes support.

Yep. Looks like its time to put the boat to rest for a while and get the ice fishing gear out. Sure hope spring comes early this year.

You can wish in one hand and….

I think this is it for the unseasonably warm weather. I think we’ll see average temps from here to March. It will be interesting to see if we see even 1 day with a high less than 0.

I sure hope we get some snow. There are going to be a lot of thirsty lakes and rivers this spring otherwise.

Just looked at the forecast. 39 degrees next sunday in blaine. Wont be enough to open the river back up but will still be a nice day of ice fishing somewhere.

After 4 days of 40’s – 50’s it may just be early ice for us here in South Central WI again. Play it safe and slow one more time.

I believe I’m finally getting out for the first time all year on Sunday.

I can’t believe I just typed that sentence on 1/10/12

You looked at Weather Channel like I did? I also checked a bunch of other sources, including the NWS, and they said 26. I guess we’ll no more as it approaches.

2 sites I don’t trust past 3 or 4 days when forecasting are Accuweather and Weather Channel (weather.com).

I’m getting a little worried about that, too. Plus, there is quite a bit of dust collecting on my snowblower, and it’s barely broken in.

We will be out, this weather has been amazing

A little cold weather would be a welcome thing prior to snow, firm that ice back up!!

Bring it down to the local rink and go to town on the pile the Zamboni dumps outside.

I’ll give a report when I return. It will be odd to feel -10 again.

Looks like next week is deep freeze time. Highs below zero in northern MN next Tuesday according to NOAA. Big cold air mass from Canada on it’s way according to the long range maps. Hope some snow comes too…brown and still raking leaves in January when the wind blows is getting old!!!

I’m hoping to get back out on Saturday or Sunday. We had 8 inches of solid ice where I was yesterday. The warmth messed up the shoreline a bit, but the main ice was solid.
