Went on a UP lake last weekend and we had a blast. We ended up with around 80 perch but only 1 walleye. The perch were all from 9 to 14.75″, 13oz to 1.5lbs catagory and boy were they tasty. The fingerling walleyes were in the hundreds on the camera so there will be a lot in the future.

That is cool. I have been there sledding and plan to go back again this winter if they get good snow. Always wanted to fish there but never have. Do you think this could be as good of a perch destination as Winnie or Leech?

Gogebic’s Perch numbers have been down the last few years but it seems to be coming back. This year maybe one of the rare years that you do not have to battle deep snow to fish it.

My perch report from the last couple days sounds just like yours. Only we were out in Webster SD. We had a blast catching 11″ – 13″ tigers with an occasional 14″ in the mix.

As for the lack of snow… I’m not missing it one bit. We walked out! Here it is mid-January and I’ve yet to hook an Otter to a snowmobile.

I’ve also heard that SD is good this year but that trip is not possible. The snow is not bad on Lake Gogebic yet though the trails seem good, but they will be getting more end of this week. The ice is good at around 10 – 13″ and the bite is slow but the fish are good fish when you find them. It is so much fun when you get a hog to the bottom of the hole and he sees you and then runs full depth back to the bottom on drag. What a rush . I am right now planning a March return if everything works out to go for the late ice perch which they say are even better.
