12″of pretty consistent Ice on Mille lacs this morning,fished the West side for a morning bite & got 3 little eyes with a few lookers…. Kinda slow.
Got off around 9:30 … & took a drive up past the Casino and couldn’t believe the trucks out driving around in each bay. I’m still walking out granted I’d feel confident on a wheeler but scared as hell by tooling around in a truck…..

I wish I would have measured because I dont recall it being that thick yesterday. Exact ice thickness is hard to gauge by eye so if you taped it then that’s what it is.
I’m still jealous you guys have ice, still too warm down here.

He’s been known to exaggerate what he sees on a tape measure by a few inches, so i’m sure its only 9″ or 10″ 
I am sitting on Mille Lacs right now with 10 inches of ice under me and 13 a hundred yards away. We have had that consistently all along the North end but I can see open water too.
Today’s satelite image sure doesn’t help my confidence of the ice out there.
In the last 2 days I have seen 16″, 14″ 12″ and 3″, Yes 3″ a mile or better off shore.
All on the SE and South Central end.
Still would not trust driving vehicles where you or a resort has not checked. Heck, I wouldnt even want to drive then. I think I will wait a week, probly longer.
I’m with you Chuck! There is not enough whiskey in Canada to convince me of driving out on the pond. I can’t believe you saw 3″ recently. Scary man, but I love it.
