I could try a couple reels for you tomorrow and report back which one works the best.

I agree with Ryan a 500 series shimano or if your going fly reel then Okuma 2/3 should be about perfect.

I’ve had good luck with the Pflueger President and Shimano Siennas on my panfish rods if your looking for spinning gear.

X2 I love my pfluegers, use for both soft and hard water fishing.

I have a couple Cetus reels and picked up a Shimano Sahara 500 and what a difference, great drag and bigger spool to minimize line coiling and it peels off the spool much better. Congrats on your new stick!

I love my Pflueger reels! I have them on all my summer and winter rods. I believe I have around 15 of them and have never had a problem

I have tica 500 and shimano 500 I lean towards shimano for larger spool less line memory or coils I’m running sedona and sahara just my opinion both are great reels

This is what I would look at also. I also picked up a frabill fly reel this year. Thorne carries just the reel. That’s another fly reel option I have really liked mine so far this season. The best part is the drag is really smooth in colder weather.
