Fishing 2 humminbirds?

For the last couple years been running a 35, I bought a new 55 and tried fishing with both. I’m having issues with the 35 when I run both at the narrow cone angle, basically I get green spinning in the flasher constantly. If I switch the 35 to the wider angle it works fine but running 2 flashers I’d rather run both on the narrow cone. I tried adjusting the interference on both but really doesn’t seem to help. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and if there’s any solutions or if I’d get another 55 am I going to have the same problem?

We fish with two ice45’s frequently and never seem to have a problem but I almost never use the narrow.

I ran a 55 last weekend in a house with 2 Vex FL8’s. I was unable to totally eliminate the interference on my 55 unless I used the narrow cone. Adjusting the noise rejection made little to no difference, but adjusting the cone to narrow made a world of difference. We were in 21fow in a 4-man perm(arnesons). I was no more impressed with the performance ice-55 bird than the 18 yr old fl-8 of mine that my uncle was using. Other than the bigger screen and flat face(which are awesome advantages to me), I thought it was an even match.

On the ICE-Birds the narrow cone is 240 khz whereas the wide cone is 455 khz. I believe Vex and Marcum run 200 khz. The Humminbird rep at this year’s ice show said if you run two side by side the best way to mitigate interference is to use opposite cone angles.

Fished West Rush yesterday about 6 feet away from a Bird 385 with my new Ice 55 in 28 feet of water. Signifigant interference picked up while I was on the 19 degree beam (240 Khz) on my Ice 55 regardless of what the 385 was set to (has 83 Khz, 200 Khz, and 83/200 modes). Only way to get rid of it was to switch mine to the 9 degree beam. 9 degrees was fine for fishing in 28 feet but I may be in trouble if I want to fish in shallower water with my 19 degree beam. I e-mailed Humminbird and will post their reply if and when I receive it.

I have a Ice 35 and a Ice 55 and I fish them together all the time with no issues.

I also use my LX5 with my Ice 55 and even when they are 3ft apart, very easy to adjust all interference. I set them both up, then turn the LX5 to SFL and NBT and then they are almost always good to go without touching the Ice55.

I have had issues fishing close to the Vex units but with some adjusting, I can get thenm to go. The Vex next to a Bird is the worst for me for some reason. Could be operator error.
