I’m going to be tying 4lb fluro to small jigs. What is the best knot for strength with fluro? I tie my jigs with a swivel at one end and keep them on a leader keeper. Makes changing jigs easier for me. Does fluro have memory issues with being coiled up?

It will coil up. If you’re using it for panfish jigs like #10-14 hooks I’d personally drop to 2# test. The light line doesn’t seem to coil as bad using the lighter jigs like that. And I use the palomar knot.

Overtime the line will develop line memory coils, but as a problem depends on the line. I’ve used flourocarbon lines that doesn’t pose a line coil issue. The line may jump off from the spool, but it goes down the hole straight.

Best knot strength is the one you can tie best. For myself, it’s the trilene knot. I pull most of the knot snug from that knot from the tag end, before I finish snugging it from the main line. My main line is all straight without any line deformity. If the line is coily, I will do a little line stretch by hand and let it go down the hole with a heavier weight before I start fishing. A low memory line will relax and most of the coil problem will be gone.

Thanks for the tips guys. I returned the 4 and got 2 lb. I’m going to see what I can come up with to keep my pre tied rigs stored as straight as possible.

Any flouro, mono,or co polymer will coil. I like 3# trielene flouro. As far as knots Eugene bend or double polamar

Anyone ever try the Rapala knot on ice jigs for better action?

I always use the palomar knot, and sometimes the Trilene knot if jig has a very small eye.
