Despite the brutal 30-35mph winds today our returning customer “WALLEYEBEN” STRIKES AGAIN!! Maybe we need to refer to him as “PIKEBEN”. Ben is a heck of a stick and we truly enjoy fishing with him a couple times each season. Some of you might remember Ben and Adam’s monster Pike trip with us this last June. All 3 of us were fortunate enough to boat pike exceeding 40 inches that day. Big fish are always the focus of our trips and this seems to sit well with these boys.

The Frabill insulated round tip ups scoffed in the face of the brutal 35 mph wind and snow. They kept the holes free of snow and ice while sending a orange wave to waiting anglers. This fish here simply RIPPED line from Ben’s hands, and those of you who have landed big pike on a hand line know the sound it makes when line strips through your cold fingers!! “DUDE THIS THING IS BIG!!”

On the 4th run we brought this 16lb “Water Wolf” topside. Of course we snapped a few quick pics and slid her back home unharmed. After that chestbumps were commonplace!! Is it still fun….YES SIR IT IS!! When things come together to land a fish of this magnitude we get a bit excited.

Fish of this magnitude are always handled with tremendous care from Rainydaze guide service. We expect to handle big fish and prepare for efficiency from hookset to release. These are elite caliber fish, and need to be treated accordingly. This is our 2nd year in which we’ve employed the Big Tooth Tackle companies “Natural Rig”. I’ve often referred to them as a “Quick Set” rig allowing us to efficiently hook big Gators without guthooking the fish. No feeding line or waiting for grandpa to finish his cigar before setting the hook. The “Natural Rig” handles all of our big girls on flags and as you can see here is often quite easy to unhook a big fish effectively. http://bigtoothtackle.com/The_Natural_Rig.html

    Beautiful fish Ben!! Congratulations Bud!

    Oops…….Almost forgot Ben…..NICE WALLEYE MAN!!

Thanks Paul. Though releasing the big fish is up to each customer nearly 99% of our big fish are released. Many customers elect to have replicas made if they are fortunate enough to land the beast.

Nice fish guys. Chris what type of scale do you us to measure those fish. I seem to have problems with digital scales not wanting to work in cold temps. Also thinking to trying to find something better than that little hook many scales come with. To many fish have been dropped trying to get that little hook into bigger fish.

Spring scale and Rapala Digital scale. Digital scales work fine in a heated house. Outside……in my experience you need a spring scale. (36 inches in length)
