I’m one of those guys that uses my spinning reels for both hard and soft water..
My only problem was that when I used the standard elec. tape to attach the reel to the rod… the sticky residue was left behind on the reel and the tape would pull chunks of cork out of the handle
While browsing through the Fleet Farm site last week to fill out an order to get free shipping I came across this…..
Frabill Ice Fishing Reel Tape link
Took a 10″ piece, stretched it hard,to attach my President 6725 and it is solid!
It’s not sticky at all, but it adheres to itself so well you cannot find the seam when your done
    It may seem pricey but……

Just a heads up for those that care

    Thanks for sharing Jeff

Another trick when using electrical tape is to make your first wraps with the non-sticky side down first, then turn the tape and finish wrapping the reel to the handle, tape to tape. I learned this trick while splicing telephone cable.

Cold Snap rod rings work really well also. After using these I quit using any other type of fastening products on my numerous rods and reels.

I used a similar tape when I was working in the elevator repair business.. for 480 connections….
It was the same as Frabill’s tape,it only stuck to itself, but much thicker…
I might try a roll of that next..

That was just a link to show it, you can get it cheaper at places like Menards or Fleet. Plus I think you get more on the roll, not sure how many feet Frabill gives you.

Basically you get twice as much for the same price, at least when I was at Mills last.
