I have a 3hp solo that I can’t pull over it seems like it’s seized up. Does anybody know if it’s junk or is this something that can be fixed for a reasonable cost? This weekend was brutal on my equipment first the solo goes down then my LX5 took a crap the only thing that would have made it better would have been if I would have busted a few of my Thorne rods thankfully theyre ok.

Tim, there was a fix for the recoil on the Solo’s when they first came out. Is it possible yours was one of the first?

There’s a YouTube video on the fix.

    I’ll look for it.

I wish it was the recoil. I took off the recoil and tried to manually turn the flywheel and it won’t budge. I think it’s seized up?

Those 15 perch and 3 Mille lacs walleyes are turning out to be very expensive.

If you haven’t done it all ready try taking the spark plug out and try turning it over. Maybe it’s flooded to the point that it’s hydraulic locked.

Tried that with the same result. I just talked to someone that services solo engines. He said it sounds like it’s seized and if that’s the case it’s junk.

Sounds like the right oil mix, the solo does have a 2 year warranty so you should be covered! Give Strikemaster a call.

Well you can try a few other things if you think it’s junk and not just a small boat anchor. Take out the plug and squirt some penetrating lube in the cylinder and leave it for a few days before giving it another try. If it doesn’t turn over with the recoil use a socket on the flywheel nut and a breaker bar for more leverage. You could also lightly tap on a dowel placed through the spark plug hole. Don’t do it hard or you’ll knock a hole in the piston. You just want to jar any rust loose and not actually move the piston.

BTW you should have a 2 year warranty.

Did it seize-up while running?I have seen guys start them in very cold weather and let them rip right away.I think you can run the risk of cold-seizure doing that.I like to idle them for at least 30 seconds.Could have a bent connecting rod by the description
